The Restaurant Ship Hispaniola - famously featured in BBC TV's cooking challenge show "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is". 

Central London's unique restaurant on the River Thames is not just a beautiful, fully air-conditioned restaurant serving high-quality food.  Our two bars and two sun terraces welcome customers who just want to pop in for a drink and our delightful Board Room is ideal for private gatherings and meetings.

LOCATION - Permanently moored on the River Thames alongside Victoria Embankment by Jubilee Footbridge, just opposite the London Eye, the Hispaniola provides a relaxed, gastronomic haven amidst the city bustle with fabulous views from both decks by day and night.  The central London location is also convenient for London's West End theatre district.

Underground:  Embankment Station (Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern Lines) - about 3 minutes walk

National rail:  Charing Cross Station - 5-minute walk or Waterloo Station about a 15-minute walk across Jubilee Footbridge

THE FOOD - Our brilliant Head Chef Ba Dhiakhaby is proud to present his new menus for 2009-10.  In addition to his exciting a-la-carte menu, which has a Mediterranean flavour with a modern twist, we are also pleased to offer tapas, Lite Bites (quick, light meals for those pressed for time), pre-post theatre and other special seasonal menus.

OPENING TIMES - Hispaniola is open from noon until 11pm (last restaurant orders 9.30pm) Tuesdays to Saturdays inclusive and from noon to 6pm Sundays. Pre-arranged extensions are possible for private parties on all days.  We are, however, closed for the first two weeks of January to enable us to carry out our annual maintenance programme (she is, after all, still a ship!) and after lunch on Christmas Day, 25th December, until the end of the year when we re-open at 6pm on New Year's Eve, 31st December, for our New Year's Eve Spectacular Dinner & Dance.

Restaurant and Cocktail Bar

The restaurant, which is located on the main deck and boasts the finest wine cellar anywhere on the river, is open for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Adjacent to the restaurant is the elegant cocktail bar where one can relax with an aperitif before a meal and digestif afterwards.

Upper deck bar and sun terraces

In addition to its own bar, the upper deck has two outside areas where one can enjoy a drink, be it tea or coffee, soft drink or alcoholic, as well as tapas or Lite Bites al fresco.  It's also Ideal for our traditional English afternoon tea

Light meals, fine dining

The Hispaniola's kitchens are renowned for their excellent modern European cuisine with a Mediterranean twist and talented Head Chef Ba Diakhaby has created a range of mouth-watering menus to appeal to wide range of tastes.

Tapas and Lite Bites

For the ultimate in relaxed eating, try our tapas menu but if you don't have time to eat Spanish-style our Lite Bites are specially designed for those who just want a quick snack during the day.

Our A-la-carte, Tapas and Lite Bites menus, as well as our wine list and bar tariff are all available additionally in Braille format and large type, for the benefit of our blind and partially-sighted customers.

 

 

Lunch

If time is limited but you'd like something more substantial than Lite Bites, our set lunch menu will set you up for the rest of

the day.  Of copurse, if you prefer to push the boat out our extensive a-la-carte menu is also available, except on Sundays.

Afternoon tea

For a quintessentially English experience, traditional afternoon tea on the sun terrace (or in the elegant restaurant if the weather is not behaving) cannot be bettered.

Special theatre menu

Going to the theatre or a concert?  Hispaniola is ideally situated for the West End and our special theatre menu is designed with theatre-goers in mind.

Dinner - Supper

Ba's a-la-carte menu is his pièce de résistance.

Both the Cocktail Bar and Upper Deck Bar are fully stocked with beer (bottled and draught), fine wines, spirits and soft drinks.

For most of the year on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings your meal will be accompanied by our resident pianist, Norman Treiger, playing and singing an eclectic mix of classics and his own compositions as well as your requests.

N.B.  NO ENTERTAINMENT SURCHARGES are applied.

 

Private parties and corporate hospitality

Both decks, as well as the Boardroom, are available individually or together for private events. They can be laid out for dances, dinners, theatre-style, boardroom-style or classroom-style to suit whatever type of event is required.  So, whether it's a wedding, birthday or anniversary party, product launch or business lunch, the R.S.Hispaniola will be right for the occasion.
